The Stone Roses will probably never reform, and the british tabloids and music press should probably get over it. Don't get me wrong, I''m a big fan, but if there's one legendary band yet to reform who won't ever do it and probably shouldn't, it's the Roses. There's just too much myths surrounding the Mancunian fab four, they showed so much unfulfilled promise in their heyday, and their short-lived run just made their few achievements (THE debut, namely) seem even more iconic. No way would it work. Let it age like fine wine. Each passing year their legacy grows. The reunion thingy might've worked for the Libs last year, but at least Barat and Doherty never vanished from the scene like Reni and Squire did.

This week the hype has been exceptionally tacky despite having some legitimate truth behind it, as Ian Brown and John Squire have actually spoken to each other. The two recently met at the funeral of Roses' bassist Mani's mother, and The Sun quickly drew some pretty hasty conclusions.

I think that's a pretty direct answer. However, even I would give the reunion two thumbs up if it also included a reunion between Brown, Squire and the reporter who made this gloriously awkward interview possible.
